How Episode Atlas Works

Captain's log vs Watch Next

• Captain's log (watch history) — a private record of episodes you have marked watched, including rewatches, calendar and list views, and progress across the catalogue. Open it at /watched when signed in.
• Watch Next — a private queue of episodes you plan to watch later (not the same as history). Manage it at /watch-next when signed in.

Guests can browse the catalogue; saving a captain's log or Watch Next queue requires sign-in.

Watch events, rewatches, and ranks

• Watch events — each time you mark an episode watched, Episode Atlas stores a dated event. Rewatching the same episode adds another event; your history can show both.
• Distinct episodes — progress and watch rank count unique episodes you have logged, not every rewatch. Rewatches still appear in your captain's log.
• Watch ranks — tiers such as Cadet through Captain (and Admiral at the top) based on how many distinct catalogue episodes you have watched. Admiral also expects coverage across the series in the catalogue. Rank is shown on your mission profile.

Visit streaks and commendations

• Active duty streak (consecutive-day visits) — consecutive days you visit while signed in.
• Tour of duty (distinct visit days) — cumulative days you have visited, even if they were not consecutive.
• Commendations (visit streak badges) — milestone badges for streak and visit achievements on your profile.

Streaks advance from normal signed-in use of the site. Optional streak reminder email is opt-in only — manage it on Email preferences. Visit streaks do not require analytics consent.

Public profile and privacy

Your captain's log, Watch Next queue, private notes, and personal ratings stay with your account. A public mission profile can show progress you choose to share (for example watch rank, completion summaries, and commendations). Do not put anything in public profile fields that you would not want on the open web.

Finding episodes

• Browse — search and filter the full catalogue.
• Series — pick a show, then open a season page for every episode in order.
• Collections — curated and themed guides.
• Trending — what the community has been watching (all-time, 7-day, and 30-day views).
• Random — a serendipitous pick; signed-in users can filter by rewatch gap.
• On this day — episodes tied to today's calendar date.

Sign-in and troubleshooting

Sign in with Google, Microsoft, or GitHub via the Sign in control in the header. Episode Atlas uses Azure Static Web Apps authentication; we receive the identity your provider shares with the app.

• If sign-in fails, try another provider, a private/incognito window, or clearing site cookies for this host, then try again.
• Use the same provider each time if you want the same account and captain's log.
• After signing in, return to the page you came from when the flow offers a return URL (for example account or captain's log gates).
• Still stuck? Send Feedback from the site menu or footer with what you saw (browser and provider help).

• Feedback — use Feedback in the site menu or footer to send product ideas and bugs.
• Support — optional voluntary contributions toward hosting and development (nothing is paywalled).
